چکیده
Cryptococcus neoformans (Cn) is a sporeforming, intracellular pathogenic yeast found in soil and other niches worldwide (1). Inhalation of spores is thus extremely common, allowing Cn to infect ~70% of children in urban environments (2). In most cases Cn infections do not present immediate clinical symptoms; rather, Cn is able to enter a chronic latent state that may last for many years by residing within host macrophages. However, in immune compromised individuals, an acute Cn infection or re-emergence of an existing infection can result in life-threatening conditions such as pneumonia or fungal meningitis. A recent estimate suggests these and other Cn-related illnesses cause ~600,000 deaths per year (3). A key regulator of this host:pathogen interaction is the Cn polysaccharide capsule. Fungal-Induced Cell Cycle Impairment, Chromosome Instability and Apoptosis via Differential Activation of NF-κB
Microbial pathogens have developed efficient strategies to compromise host immune responses. Cryptococcus neoformans is a facultative intracellular pathogen, recognised as the most common cause of systemic fungal infections leading to severe meningoencephalitis, mainly in immunocompromised patients. This yeast is characterized by a polysaccharide capsule, which inhibits its phagocytosis. Wherea...
متن کاملProtosappanin A protects against atherosclerosis via anti- hyperlipidemia, anti-inflammation and NF-κB signaling pathway in hyperlipidemic rabbits
Objective(s): Protosappanin A (PrA) is an effective and major ingredient of Caesalpinia sappan L. The current study was aimed to explore the effect of PrA on atherosclerosis (AS). Materials and Methods: Firstly, the experimental model of AS was established in rabbits by two-month feeding of high fat diet. Then, the rabbits were randomly divided into five groups and treated with continuous high ...
متن کاملModulation of IKKβ/NF-κB and TGF-β1/Smad via Fuzheng Huayu recipe involves in prevention of nutritional steatohepatitis and fibrosis in mice
Objective(s):Fuzheng Huayu recipe (FZHY) exerts significant protective effects against liver fibrosis by strengthening the body’s resistance and removing blood stasis. However, the molecular mechanisms through which FZHY affects liver fibrosis are still unclear. In this study, we examined the expression levels of factors involved in the inhibitor κB kinase-β (IKK-β)/nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) an...
متن کاملP133: Targeting NF-Κb Signaling Pathway as Potential Therapeutic with Curcumin in Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis
Curcumin is active component of turmeric and isolated from the rhizome of turmeric, a phenolic natural product. One of inflammatory disease is multiple sclerosis, a multifocal chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease of the CNS, which is also known as a perivascular demyelinating disease. Studies have been shown that neuro-inflammation can have both harmful and beneficial effects on the neuronal...
متن کاملActivation of Wnt signaling reduces high-glucose mediated damages on skin fibroblast cells
Objective(s): High-glucose (HG) stress, a mimic of diabetes mellitus (DM) in culture cells, alters expression of a large number of genes including Wnt and NF-κB signaling-related genes; however, the role of Wnt signaling during HG-mediated fibroblast damage and the relationship between Wnt and NF-κB signaling have not been understood. In this study, we aimed to investigate the ffects of Wnt sig...
